and yet it's considered the "best" one by a lot of people x] You say it's not that scary. I'd have to agree. But, I haven't found any of the silent hill games to be scary as of yet.

It all comes down to the amount of balls you have I suppose [metaphorically speaking]. And how desensitized you are to things. I'd have to say that Silent Hill 1 is the least scary, but looking at it's dated graphics, and clunky movement of everything. It's not hard to see why. 'Course, back in the day it was probably scary as sh*t. Didn't play it back then. Only started playing these games 2 or so years ago, right around the time the movie came out. I missed out on a lot of things unfortunately. Like the the "golden age" of silent hill.
3, and homecoming are the two of them I haven't played yet. Can't find 3, and I don't have a ps3/xbox360. But, from what my friend Ali told me, homecoming isn't scary at all. And Pyramid head, although quite revamped and pissed off as hell looking, doesn't really belong in there at all.

To me silent hill 4 wasnt particulary scary, and origins wasnt either but the earlier ones were the creapiest and best, if a new game is to come out then the developers should look back to their roots of the older games and make a decent game based on that

It's hard to say if any Silent Hill title is truly "scary". What sets the games apart from most of its ilk is their habit of making you uncomfortable and making you question what's real and what's not. Silent Hill is legions ahead of most films in terms of horror, and it doesn't have to be blunt about the matter either.
Also, for the record, Pyramid Head DOES have a real and important purpose in Homecoming. However, he remains in the shadows and his effect on the gamer is much more subtle than that of Silent Hill 2. I suggest you all actually play the game before casting stones.

For me the music and sound effects create something scary. You know something is bound to happen when you hear the weird music, and it makes you jump like hell
